The Blivets - 10lbs of Rock in a 5 Pound Bag, KMUW Radio show, 1987
This is an extended radio show, actually one of my first feature shows on a local band. Where I followed the Blivets around the city of Wichita as they rehearsed, had various chats in different locations and drove around town looking for tornado damage from a recent storm. The results, while overly long, turned out pretty fun.. a kind of demented local version of a 60's rock film with the exception that it was on the radio. Mark Munzinger came up with the name, although I had to alter it slightly for the radio... where the word "shit" couldn’t be aired on the radio.

The Blivets - Live at Sky Bowl, KMUW radio show, 1988
This concert idea grew out of a conversation with Mitch Stocker, of Wichita, KS., at that time he was manager of Sky Bowl Lanes, a bowling alley in Wichita, he was looking for ways to promote Sky Bowl. The concert was arranged, a date was set and the Wichita band "The Blivets" were selected as the perfect choice for the show. I thought that we'd have the band off to the side of the lanes while people bowled, but Mitch said that they should set up right on the lanes. I bought a series of wooden display pedestals from Macy's to create a makeshift stage and the band played right in the middle of everything. We also had a prize drawing where the grand prize was a bowling pin, this concept was later adopted into the Escape' Drive-in and M.T. Pockets.
